Governor Ron DeSantis,

I am petitioning  on behalf of all incarcerated individuals and their loved ones requesting that you prevent the Florida Department of Corrections from taking away any of our in person visitations. The FDOC tried to do this back in 2018 and it was discovered that these visits are detrimental in rehabilitation and greatly needed. Yet here we are again and they still are wanting to rob families of their time, which I must add is a violation of FS944.8031(1) which reads as follows: 944.8031 
(1) The Legislature finds that maintaining an inmate’s family and community relationships through enhancing visitor services and programs and increasing the frequency and quality of the visits is an underutilized correctional resource that can improve an inmate’s behavior in the correctional facility and, upon an inmate’s release from a correctional facility, will help to reduce recidivism. So please on behalf of the thousands of loved ones DO NOT LET THEM TAKE OUR VISITS if anything they should be adding more time as the Legislature suggest in the rule listed above!
