Local residents call upon the South Ribble Borough Council and the UK Government to install CCTV in all children’s play areas in Leyland.

Our children deserve to feel safe and secure while enjoying outdoor activities. Unfortunately, many local play areas have become hotspots for anti-social behaviour, including:

 • Bullying

 • Drug use and dealing

 • Verbal and physical violence

 • Theft

 • Sexual harassment and abuse

These behaviours not only endanger the physical and emotional well-being of children but also deter families from using these public spaces. Installing CCTV in these areas would:

 • Discourage anti-social behaviour by increasing accountability.

 • Assist law enforcement in identifying and addressing incidents.

 • Provide peace of mind to parents and guardians.

 • Create a safer, more inclusive environment for children to play, learn, and grow.

While we understand concerns about privacy, we believe that the protection of our children must take precedence. Any CCTV systems implemented should adhere strictly to data protection laws, ensuring footage is used solely for safeguarding purposes.
