The Issue

Our Chinese teacher at Morton East High School has been such an invaluable mentor and educator to countless students, including myself. She goes above and beyond in her commitment to fostering a genuine understanding of Chinese culture and language, and has been a beacon of inspiration and hope for many of us. Her unwavering belief in the potential of her students, combined with her willingness to offer personalized help, has made a resounding impact on our educational journeys.

Recently, the district announced plans to transfer her to Morton West. This move has spurred deep concern and sadness among students and parents alike. Here at Morton East, she's not just an educator-she's the founder of a thriving Chinese cultural program that has brought together a diverse group of students and enriched our school community. The program has flourished under her guidance, and its continued success heavily relies on her leadership and vision. Transferring her to another school would not only disrupt our beloved program but also diminish the unique cultural programs that she has cultivated. The students at Morton East benefit tremendously from her expertise and dedication, and the void her absence would create is irreplaceable.

We understand the challenges the district faces in making staffing decisions; however, it's critical to consider the individual impact an educator like her has on students' lives.
Maintaining her position at Morton East would ensure the continuity of the strong academic and cultural community she has built.

I urge the Cicero community and supporters of Morton East to voice their opinions and advocate for her to remain where she is needed and cherished. Please join us in signing this petition to keep our beloved Chinese teacher at Morton East High School.
