X recently introduced a feature that allows user locations to be displayed as either country or continent.

We, users of the platform, believe the “continent” option is too vague and can create confusion.

We respectfully request that Elon Musk and the X team:

Why this request?

1. To help users know who they’re talking to showing only the country helps users better understand where an account is truly located and makes interactions clearer and more contextual.

2. To limit misleading or deceptive accounts

A country-level display increases transparency and helps identify:

accounts pretending to be local but operating from elsewhere,

automated or deceptive accounts,

accounts influencing discussions while being managed externally.

3. To strengthen trust on the platform

A continent is too broad to be meaningful.

Showing the country supports a more authentic, transparent, and stable environment on X.

4. To keep the platform consistent

Most social networks display user location by country, not continent.

Keeping the country option aligns X with modern standards and improves user experience.
