Keep MLC's high school alive!

The Issue

PPS has recommended removing MLC's high school next year.

Metropolitan Learning Center is a historical K-12 school, focused on experiential and project based learning. Relationships are close-knit, and us high school students feel as if we have finally found an environment in which we can thrive. Class sizes are small and teachers and staff make sure everybody is able to get an equal education in the ways we learn best. We have chances to do things like work with different grades, where we are taught leadership and cooperation skills that will assist us in the real world.

If you ask the high school students of MLC what their school means to them, many if not all of us would say that MLC is our safe haven. No matter who we are: queer, transgender, neurodivergent, disabled, bullied, etc...we are welcomed with open arms.

We ask you to please sign this petition to help convince the PPS School Board to keep our school open. And don't be afraid to pass it on! If you're comfortable, here are some ways you can further support our cause:
1. Get the word out! Tell your neighbors and friends to support MLC and let’s amp it up!
2. Attend a PPS school board meeting! For more info on meetings, click here
3. Call/email school board members. Click here to find their contact information. Our specific member is Patte Sullivan, her email is: psullivan@pps.net. You could also just email their general account at: schoolboard@pps.net
a. Here is a template you can use to email if you’d like :)

Keep hope. We can make change if we come together, use our voices, and support one another.
