Keep Meta Horizon Worlds VR Alive

Keep Meta Horizon Worlds VR Alive
The Issue
Petition addressee:
To: Meta Reality Labs leadership and Mark Zuckerberg
Petition:
We’re asking Meta to make a clear, long-term commitment to keeping Meta Horizon Worlds available and actively developed in VR, not just shifted toward mobile.
For many of us, Horizon Worlds on Quest isn’t a side feature—it’s where real communities formed. People across different countries have built lasting friendships, learned how to communicate with confidence, and found social spaces that genuinely help with anxiety, isolation, and mental health. VR presence matters: it creates a level of connection and comfort that a phone screen can’t fully replace.
Horizon Worlds is also a creative platform. Builders and performers use VR to express themselves, experiment, and grow skills—sometimes turning that effort into income and small businesses. If VR support is reduced or phased out, it risks cutting off the most immersive version of the experience and disrupting the community that has already invested years into it.
We understand the goal of expanding access through mobile. Wider reach is good. But expansion shouldn’t mean abandoning the VR community that made Horizon Worlds what it is. Mobile and VR can coexist—and each serves different needs.
We respectfully urge Meta to:
- Keep Horizon Worlds playable and supported on Quest/VR long-term (no shutdown of the VR version).
- Continue improving VR performance, safety tools, discovery, and stability—not letting it stagnate.
- Build sustainable, fair monetization that supports creators and communities in VR (not only on mobile).
- Communicate a clear roadmap so creators and players can plan for the future.
Closing Statement:
Horizon Worlds in VR is a home for millions of meaningful moments: friendship, learning, creativity, and personal growth. Please protect it, invest in it, and let it thrive alongside mobile—rather than replacing it.
