Dear Supporters,
I am thrilled to share some incredible news: thanks to your overwhelming support and the tireless collaboration of numerous individuals and organizations, we’ve successfully reached an agreement with the U.S. Forest Service to allow grooming operations on McKenzie Pass Highway 242 for the 2024-2025 winter season. This is a major step forward for everyone who treasures this iconic winter recreation area.
Your advocacy, signatures, and heartfelt messages have been pivotal in showing the strength of our community and our shared commitment to preserving access to McKenzie Pass. Together, we’ve demonstrated the power of unity and the impact of raising our voices for what matters most.
This agreement not only enables grooming this season but also reaffirms the importance of the John Craig Memorial Ski Race—a cherished tradition that celebrates the rich history and recreational opportunities of McKenzie Pass. While this agreement is a significant milestone, it also sets the stage for future discussions to establish a lasting framework for winter recreation access and trail stewardship.
Looking ahead, we will meet with the U.S. Forest Service in June to build on this progress and work toward a long-term solution that ensures McKenzie Pass remains a vital resource for generations of winter enthusiasts. Your continued support will be critical as we take these next steps.
Thank you for standing with us and being an essential part of this journey. Together, we’ve shown what’s possible when we unite around a shared vision. I’ll keep you updated on developments and let you know how you can stay involved as we move forward.
With deepest gratitude,
Christian Sammons
