Dear Supporter: I wanted to share some exciting news with you. Today the Washington Post is running a front page story, in print and online, regarding the McDonald’s 540 Meals documentary: “How McDonald’s Is Using Schools to Try to Change What Kids Eat.” https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonkblog/wp/2015/10/29/how-mcdonalds-is-using-schools-to-try-to-change-what-kids-eat/ In addition to examining this misguided and aggressive marketing program, the piece takes offers an in-depth look at the troubling relationship between McDonald’s and schools. When media outlets first started paying attention to the 540 Meals film two weeks ago, McDonald’s responded by actually pulling from the Internet the link to the film contained in my post. Read more about that here http://www.thelunchtray.com/mcdonalds-pulls-540-meals-from-internet-under-growing-barrage-of-media-criticism/ That action indicated to me that McDonald’s knows this in-school marketing campaign can’t stand up to scrutiny. So it’s my hope that with the increased exposure of a front page Washington Post piece, McDonald’s CEO Steve Easterbrook will feel even more pressure to discontinue the 540 Meals school outreach program. Let’s keep up that pressure by continuing to share the petition with friends and family on social media - the short URL is change.org/stop540meals - and thank you so much for your support of my campaign!
