Campaign Update: Council Response & Our Follow-Up

On commencing this petition, I also sent a letter to our local counciller and the mayor and I have received a response from Logan City Council regarding the future of the Logan Metro Fitness Centre.

The Council’s Response
The council confirmed that the procurement process is still underway and no operator has been appointed yet. They noted that:
The gym remains open and services are operating as normal.
They cannot share confidential details while negotiations are ongoing.
They recognize the gym's importance and are committed to achieving positive community outcomes.

Our Reply to Council
While we completely understand the need for commercial confidentiality, the community remains anxious about the unknown. We have written back to the council to let them know that patrons simply want reassurance that their well-being is at the heart of this process.
We have respectfully asked the council to:
Prioritize core values: Provide an assurance that the evaluation criteria place a high priority on affordability, community spirit, and genuine inclusiveness.
Protect vital programs: Ensure that preserving essential community initiatives, like the Active and Healthy classes, is a key priority.
Provide an update: Share a brief, reassuring statement on their webpage to keep members informed and valued during this transition.

Our petition is growing rapidly, showing just how much we cherish this supportive and welcoming environment. This isn't about opposition, but about working together with the council to keep Logan Metro a healthy, accessible space for all of us.
