Keep Japanese in the Tavistock College curriculum

Keep Japanese in the Tavistock College curriculum
The Issue
Tavistock college are discontinuing Japanese lessons.
The consequence of this for year 7 and 8 pupils, who have been studying Japanese with the aim of achieving a GCSE, is that they are losing the opportunity to continue learning a subject they have put a lot of hard work and commitment into. Students and parents are angry and frustrated that Tavistock College have taken this action without any consultation with those the decision affects.
Firstly, we want Tavistock College to fulfil their duty and continue the commitment they have already made to providing a Japanese GCSE to this years Y7 and Y8 students.
Secondly, we want Tavistock College to maintain the Japanese offer for all future pupils. In the past, this has been a flagship subject, which all those involved in the College have been extremely proud of.
We must NOT allow Tavistock College to lose the opportunity to stand out from other schools, and to lose the fantastic connections they have made with Japan over the years.
All parents and students must do all they can to fight this decision.
