My mom has been watching Hulu for years, and it's become a staple in our household. We were disheartened to hear that Disney plans to shut down the standalone Hulu app by 2026 and fully merge it into Disney+. This change will alter the way we access our favorite shows and movies, making it a mere tile within Disney+, similar to Pixar or Star Wars.

Disney contends that this move is part of their broader strategy to offer a unified streaming experience by integrating general entertainment, family programming, news, and live sports all in one place. While the concept of convenience sounds great in theory, it disregards the unique identity Hulu has built over the years. Hulu has cultivated a diverse library with specific content that appeals uniquely to its audience.

By merging Hulu into Disney+, viewers will lose the distinctive user experience and direct access to exclusive Hulu content. This reorganization may render Hulu's specialized appeal less visible and could lead to challenges in discovering new and tailored content.

We believe Hulu deserves to stand alone — its unique offering has its fan base, and merging it dilutes that special connection viewers like my mom have developed with it over the years.

Let's tell Disney that Hulu's separate identity matters to us and should remain intact. We value our diverse streaming choices and believe that a one-size-fits-all approach isn't always beneficial.
