Keep Graduation Chairs for Austin and Ayden

Keep Graduation Chairs for Austin and Ayden
The Issue
Austin Eggleston and Ayden Dodge were both members of the class of 2024 at Warren Area High School. On December 7th of 2021, Austin Eggleston sadly passed away. Austin enjoyed spending time with friends, listening to music, and was learning to play guitar when he passed away. This not only affected his close friends, but also the rest of the class of 2024, the rest of the students at WAHS, and faculty. Then, on January 1st, 2024, Ayden Dodge, another member of the class of 2024, passed away as well. Ayden enjoyed music, video games, fishing, and collecting shoes. These were real people. Real students with family and friends. Having seats at graduation for them is not only a sign of respect, but honors the lives they both had. Taking this away removes the impact the deaths of both these students had on others. Students of WAHS had to learn how to grow through the trauma they endured. Students must act now to ensure that their fellow classmates are respected. Ayden and Austin being absent at graduation is not a happy thing, but that does not mean they should simply be forgotten about.
