Currently, GLP-1 medications are not longer  going to be covered under medicaid in North Carolina as of October 1st, 2025. It's a decision that would leave many without the necessary support to manage their health effectively. Statistics show that access to these medications significantly improves outcomes for individuals suffering from insulin resistance and related conditions, decreasing rates of diabetes and associated complications.

By maintaining Medicaid coverage for GLP-1 medications, we take a step towards a healthier community, where everyone has the opportunity to lead a healthier, fuller life irrespective of their socioeconomic status.

I urge policymakers in North Carolina to consider the profound impact these medications have on individuals and the broader community. Removing this critical support would be detrimental to many who rely on Medicaid for their healthcare needs.
