I am a passionate Formula 1 fan, and like many others, I look forward to each race with eager anticipation. Yet, as the calendar shapes up, I am increasingly disheartened by the growing number of street circuits that are replacing traditional racing tracks. Legendary tracks like Nürburgring and Imola hold a special place in the history of motorsport. They are not just venues, but sanctuaries of speed, skill, and innovation.

Street circuits, while novel, often do not offer the same level of excitement and strategic racing as traditional circuits. Watching races on real tracks is a thrilling experience. The corners, the straights, the specific character of each track—these elements bring out the best of driver skills and team strategy. On the other hand, street circuits can be narrow and hazardous, often leading to tedious processions rather than the drama-filled races we long for.

It's not just about nostalgia. Traditional tracks are specifically designed for high-speed racing and provide the safe yet challenging environment that drivers and teams can excel in. These tracks foster better racing and give us, the fans, the thrilling spectacles we love. Street circuits tend to be more about spectacle over genuine racing. By reclaiming our traditional racing tracks, Formula 1 can maintain its legacy as the pinnacle of motor racing.

I urge Formula 1 management to reconsider their current strategy and bring back more traditional racing circuits to the calendar. We want to see races that test the limits of both machine and man, not just exhibitions in city centres. Formula 1 should reflect its heritage and the very essence of motorsport ingenuity.
