Keep Families Together – Social Work Support not Separation

Keep Families Together – Social Work Support not Separation
The Issue
No child should grow up feeling they were not worth fighting for.
Many families facing care proceedings are often already struggling; with domestic abuse, trauma, mental health challenges or poverty. Social Service's give assessments instead of assistance, judgement instead of support. What they need is help. Instead, many families experience permanent separation from their children.
The removal of a child has lifelong consequences for their identity, sense of belonging and emotional wellbeing.
Where safe, children should be supported to remain connected to their parents, grandparents and extended family.
Adoption without consent should only ever happen when every other safe option has truly been explored.
We are calling for reform so that:
Early support comes before separation
Families receive fair legal safeguards
Reunification is prioritised wherever possible
Keeping families together, when safe, protects children’s long-term wellbeing.
Please stand with families who need support — not separation.
