Unelected official Superintendent F. Mike Miles and his team have once again pushed an order that affects the entire of HISD High Schools. Students, teachers, and staff will now not be able have early dismissal as students finish their final exams. This creates an abundance of problems as teachers will have less time to grade, students will have less time for asynchronous study, and staff will have less time for preparing their schools for the upcoming semester and/or school year. This emphasis on attendance and the increased funding HISD obtains with it proves that the proposed "New Education System" and new districtwide changes are not about what is best for students, but rather the money the district will receive off the labor and stress of faculty, staff, and students alike. With some of the best high schools in the state, changes like these do not provide opportunity for anybody except the new, unelected officials who crave money as opposed to real academic success.
