The reason for the petition and contacting commissioners

It’s important for everyone to understand the reason for this petition.  This petition was not started to go against agriculture, it’s a petition to change where the opposed business is wanting to locate.  We welcome all agricultural businesses and want to support them in our community. Remember that whether you live inside city limits or not this decision affects you and how future decisions are handled.  Only the public can hold elected officials accountable.
If possible let the commissioners know you oppose this special use permit by Tuesday, May 13th either by calling, email or show up at 9:00 am to the Buffalo county courthouse 
Public safety should be of the upmost importance in our community and adding oversized semi-trucks, possibly multiple times a day, to a winding, hilly road that has steep ditches and no shoulders is not safe. As stated in a previous meeting there is no money available (estimated 20 million)to make Cottonmill Ave safer for this type of added traffic.  The site for special use is overstretching county law by being constructed over 1000 feet away from an actual highway.  We believe that this will set a precedence for allowing not only additional businesses but larger businesses to build in this area.  It is imperative that the commissioners be contacted and asked to deny the permit for the stated above concerns. 

Please contact the above commissioners asking for the site to be denied, offering a more suitable alternative for the reasons of safety, overstretching county laws and possible future larger builds. 

 In closing we support new ag industry and development in our community, but it needs to be in the correct location!
