Hi,
Thanks again for signing the petition to bring City Lights back. We now have 908 signatures; if each of us shares with one or two friends we could reach 2,000+ and make a louder public case.
Two quick facts to consider:
WABE publicly reported that it received a $3 million bequest (the largest in the station’s history) and says it learned of the pending gift in spring 2025. [AJC: Nov. 18,2025]
WABE announced it was ending City Lights Collective on Sept. 17, 2025 (the show debuted in July).
On May 21, 2025, WABE’s CEO Jennifer Dorian spoke on-air about the Lois Reitzes Arts Fund and described it as supporting the future of City Lights.
The station knew of the bequest in spring, and the program was cut in September — raising reasonable questions about priorities and transparency. If we want to ask WABE for a clearer accounting of how donations and designated funds are being used, public pressure and polite requests for transparency can help.
If you’re willing, please share the petition with two friends — momentum matters. Thank you again for standing up for Atlanta’s arts coverage.
With appreciation,
Shawn Vinson
