As of Feb. 17, 2023, Life Time fitness at Castle Creek announced the elimination of both basketball courts in order to permanently convert them to pickleball courts. Conversion is expected to start on March 13th. Basketball members are being pushed out completely and express needing to go elsewhere in light of this abrupt decision. 

Given the Castleton/Indianapolis demographic, this is detrimental and even considered by some to be implicit discrimination: it is apparent that that the basketball demographic is unnecessarily being pushed away fully to accommodate pickleball players. We ask that operations at Life Time fitness take into account the importance of basketball for paying members, especially those living in or near the Castleton area. Despite a lively and active basketball community of all ages, management inaccurately claims that interest in basketball has dwindled in order to justify this upcoming action. In signing this petition, we respectfully ask that a) only one court be converted, as this would allow for both basketball and pickleball players to continue to be a part of the Life Time community or b) pickleball continue to be given allotted time and space on the courts, as has been done with no problems for the past years.
