The Issue

Austin Parkway Elementary School is more than just an educational institution; it's a cornerstone of our community in Sugar Land, Texas. It's where our children build their first friendships, where they take their initial steps in education, and where families establish connections that last a lifetime. This school represents a stable and nurturing environment that is crucial for young students, offering them stability, familiarity, and a sense of belonging.

We, the undersigned parents, guardians, educators, homeowners, and community members, respectfully urge the Fort Bend ISD Board of Trustees to keep Austin Parkway Elementary School open during the district’s boundary planning and facilities review process.

Austin Parkway Elementary is a strong neighborhood school that provides academic stability, student support, and meaningful family engagement. Closing the campus would disrupt young learners, increase transportation burdens, and weaken the surrounding community.

We recognize FBISD’s responsibility to address enrollment shifts and financial pressures. However, we believe closure should be a last resort. We respectfully request the district fully consider alternatives such as boundary adjustments, program expansion, community partnerships, and allowing additional time for enrollment trends to stabilize.

Keeping Austin Parkway Elementary open aligns with FBISD’s mission to serve students first and maintain strong, connected school communities.

We respectfully ask the Board of Trustees to consider this petition and community feedback before making any final decisions.
