Rally at the Statehouse on February 17

On February 17, the Autism Society of Indiana is holding a rally at the Statehouse for parents and advocates to talk with legislators about the impact of the 30 hours per week of therapy and 3-year cap on intensive ABA services that is being proposed by Medicaid.  We are working with organizations such as the Hoosier Association for Behavior Analysts, Indiana Providers of Effective Autism Treatment, and the Council of Autism Service Providers to get this drastic proposal stopped.  However, lawmakers are much more likely to listen to parents than they are to professionals.  We urge you to attend the event and have your voice heard. 

Final Days to Comment on Concerning Medicaid Proposals

The proposal states that ABA therapy would be capped at 30 hours per week and 36 months. We believe this proposal is not only wrong, but possibly against laws regarding medical necessity.  You only have until this Friday, February 14, to make your concerns known!

1)      send an email to: spacomment@fssa.in.gov and explain how a cap of 3 years at 30 hours of intensive treatment is likely to affect your child or someone you know. Make sure to use the subject heading: COMMENT RE: ABA THERAPY COVERAGE in the email.

2)      Send that same email or a similar email describing both this change and any other issues you have had in the past year with Medicaid to your legislators.  To find your legislators use this link: https://iga.in.gov/information/find-legislators and then click their “Contact my Office” button to make your voice heard.

3)Continue to call and email Governor Braun (in.accessgov.com/gov/Forms/Page/gov/ask-mike/0) / 317-232-4567. Ask him to NOT move forward with the state plan amendment language.
