We, the undersigned, call upon the Government of Ontario to immediately halt its plan to build a new and bigger jail in Ottawa, made without public consultation.

We, the undersigned, also call upon the Government of Ontario to hold a robust public consultation, to consider alternative ways of spending the hundreds of millions of dollars earmarked for the new jail, in order to strengthen social programs and community-based alternatives and reduce imprisonment.
