On January 15th, 2015, TBNewswatch published a letter to the editor that I wrote regarding the proposed closure of our only fully accessible resort, Wilderness Discovery Resort For The Disabled on beautiful Lake Shebandowan.
In just ten days, we will begin our THIRD YEAR in our fight to have your crown land designated by Ontario as permanently protected for the use of the disability community. It will also mark 19 months since THIS PETITION was personally delivered to Premier Kathleen Wynne. This is absurd!
Four Thunder Bay civic organizations have joined our fight by banding together to plan a reopening if a feasible lease arrangement can be reached with Bob Chiarelli, Minister Of Infrastructure. MPP Chiarelli's exorbitant demand per annum has BLOCKED all our efforts. We need this to be exposed in the media, ESPECIALLY TORONTO TELEVISION !
Although we can't celebrate yet, we can reflect. On our Facebook page, I will post over 100 of our favourite photos from the last two years. In summary, the support we've received is jaw-dropping and the pictures are amazing. I will assemble them as videos of seven pics each and post them daily. I think you'll enjoy them very much I encourage you to share them too. If you haven't "LIKED" the Facebook page yet, there's no better time to do it. You'll be able to keep up with the pictures quite easily. Scroll further down to access the link.
As always, words cannot express our immense gratitude. Kirk wants everyone to know that he's doing better and hopes all of you are well. We hope 2017 proves to be a landmark year. A year when we can finally save YOUR landmark in Ontario, Wilderness Discovery Resort For The Disabled.
