Karnataka Road Taxes are soaring through the roof

The Problem
When an average person wants to buy a bike they will be paying up to 18% of the price of the vehicle as Road tax. Which is the highest in any state in India. If that was not enough, we also have to pay an Additional Cess and Infrastructure Cess too.

There is no reason for the taxes to be so high(even if it's a lifetime tax).

Let me give you an example:
A bike costing 1,04,015
In Karnataka, we are charged 21284 in taxes and cess.
The same bike in Delhi or Neighbouring Tamil Nadu would be charged a tax of 8322.

All this despite the quality of roads in Bengaluru, being far worse than Delhi or Chennai.

The Cause
Karnataka Road tax is not based on the capacity of the Vehicle neither by cc or power produced. The criteria for changes in tax bands are based on ex-showroom price. Considering inflation this is the Worst option to have, as the taxes will increase exponentially from lower to middle capacity vehicles.

What we can do
Lack of public pressure has led to inaction in regulating the Taxes and also Road development and maintenance.
