Kids Voice Kansas
Dec 21, 2018

A year ago today our lives were shattered. Our trust broken and the innocents of our son gone forever. A year ago today we sat in our pastors office and told him the horrid details about what happened to our ten year old son while in the churches care. Our brave little boy with tears in his eyes told of the horror he went through the last 3 months. We went to our church and to our pastor fully expecting support and for them to be there when we went to the police so justice could be served. Instead we were asked to " wait 24 hours so they could pray." After we left we realized that it was just a delay tactic and the church had no intentions of going to the police at all. Instead that day got the ball rolling on a chain of events that would prevent us from justice and closure of what happened to Sheldon.

It isn't just about justice it is about Sheldon feeling safe knowing he won't run into the boys that hurt him when we leave our home each day. It is the constant nagging fear as a mother that those boys are loose on the streets and it could very easily be our neighbors child hurt next and another family facing the horror and shattered forever. Those boys wouldnt be loose had the police been called the very day we went to the church. Instead now their alarming behavior has continued on and they havent gotten the help they need to stop them from being predators.

Please if you haven't already take two minutes to sign our petition and share it. The mandate laws need to be changed in Kansas. Not just for our son but for every child in the State of Kansas. If you can't go to your church and know that justice will be served and your childs voice will be heard ..then really who can you go to?

Below is a copy of the "Plan of action" our church gave us in the days after we went to them. Long enough for families to be informed and stories to be matched and for the church to allow other children to be exposed and possibly harmed by these juvenile predators.

You will note on this Plan of action they refer to it as "sexual exploration" the churches mind was made up and they had no intentions on telling the truth or going to the police.

This is our reality now. To see the person who hurt your child riding their bike down the road as if nothing happened. Their secret safe and the ability and knowledge that they can hurt other children and get away with it.

The question now. Who's child will be next or better yet as these boys turn into adults what other crimes will they commit and who else will they hurt because NOTHING was done now?

Clergy in the state of Kansas are NOT mandate reporters. This needs to be changed. Please help us be a voice for ALL children in Kansas.
PLEASE HELP US.
