Johnson/Talanda Family Cottage Update 6/20/23
Good afternoon, Friends,
Our family wanted to keep you in the know with what is going on with the Johnson/Talanda cottage on Gourdneck Lake, our family's cottage that we have owned since BEFORE Prairie View Park was even established, our cottage that sits on 1/3 of an acre inside of an over 200 acre park that is poorly maintained and already subsidized by the local government, our family cottage that Kalamazoo County continues to go after FOR NO GOOD REASON.
Tomorrow, June 21st, we go to court yet again. The County continues to claim that it needs our cottage and the land that it sits upon in order to "complete the park." It seems that the County does not have to show specific plans or any real need in order to take our private property. This has been utterly disappointing, frustrating, and draining for our entire family. So much legal gymnastics and not enough common sense.
So, what can you do? Pray. Please pray that the Lord would give the judge wisdom in his ruling, that our attorneys would have wisdom in their words, that truth and justice would rule the day, and that our family would bring glory to God in our thoughts, words and actions. Much of our family are Christians, and while we are disheartened and exhausted, our desire is to honor the Lord especially in hard and frustrating situations as this. So, please continue to spread the word about what is happening in our local government and please continue to pray. This has always been and is in the Lord's hands.
Thank you again for your continued interest, encouragement and support of our family and our fight to keep what is rightfully ours.
With great gratitude and sincere appreciation,
The Johnson/Talanda Family
