Thank you all so much/Petition update
Dec 3, 2016 — Sincerely..
I just want to thank everyone who has signed this petition so far. Everyone who has taken a moment to share it with your friends and family. Everyone who has left their heartfelt comments either here or on their respective social media pages - whether it be in support of my family and my Dad or in relation to your own experiences. And to those of you who are suffering your own battles with cancer/illness/or loss, you and your loved ones matter too, just like my Dad matters, and I am very sorry that you've had to go through this.
I know I have been silent around here for some time, but please don't take this as a sign of giving up or slowing down. It isn't easy trying to stay pro-active when your whole life has been turned upside down. But the fact that people continue to support this definitely gives me hope and inspiration to not give up. I wanted to be able to do everything I could to "fix" my Dad when he was sick. We all did, and we lost. I lost. So now I truly am just trying to make a difference for my Dad. And for all of you and your loved ones too. This is still something we can do to fix what's wrong.
Feel free to share this petition with your local news outlets or members of parliament if you feel up to it. The more that people are talking about this, the sooner we get rid of asbestos finally, but perhaps even more immediately important - individuals who have already been exposed will at the very least be more aware of what mesothelioma is. Should they be showing any early symptoms or if they even just want to be pro-active, they can start a conversation with their doctor regarding their concerns. An early diagnosis can make a HUGE difference in treatment options and quality of life. So don't for a second feel like it isn't worth at least bringing up with your family physician. Remember please that asbestos fibres can take many years, decades even, before the cancer or disease has developed. For most people, once the detection has been made, they are already very sick and it can be a heart-breaking and painfully quick downhill battle.
We are only 25 away from the next goal of 200 signatures. It would be so amazing if we could reach 200 by the end of 2016. We won't stop there either, we will strive for 300, 500, 10,000 or whatever it takes - until the ban has been made.
I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and are able to spend time with those you love. This is a very hard time from here on out for my family to get through the holidays without our Dad/Husband/Grandpa/Brother/Son. So the best thing you could do for us is make sure you let your loved ones know how much you value them. <3
Thanks again for your time,
