The annual Canada Commercial Seal Hunt is not only considered to be the largest slaughter of marine life anywhere in the World, as sources and documents state, but it is also one viewed by countless individuals globally as an unsustainable and inhumane industry, in which continues to grow due to the negative effects on the dying industry and the reputation of Canada, both within the country and internationally. After careful and extensive research upon the nature and the issues that go hand in hand with this perishing industry, we believe that a possible and positive solution on the Canadian Government's part would be a complete federal buyout of the commercial seal hunt - an imperative strategy that could very well be much benefit to everyone in the long run. With this complete federal buyout it will: Although the Canadian Government will end all provincial and federal financial subsidies and support from the Commercial Seal Hunt, exiting their participation and investment, they can, however, work with sealers, investors and local communities involved to establish and develop a fair and appropriate buyout of all sealing licenses and investments. This involvement will also include efforts and works with levels of Governments to seek out and establish economic alternatives that are sustainable for sealers and their communities - while also establish training programs or such resources necessary to help improve the ways of life of such individuals and communities, and compensate for any investments or loss of income acquired by sealers and companies due to the nature of the sealing industry buyout. These here are just some of the aspects of what a federal buyout could do - but we desperately need not only individuals internationally to speak up for this solution, but to also call upon the Government of Canada to do the same, and take an active role to see this through. For decades the Canadian Government has continuously attempted to promote, revive and defend such inhumanity --- with much efforts to keep this dying industry on life support.
