
I hope everyone is doing well. Seeing the second wave of COVID-19 in Canada and the third wave in the United States has been extremely stressful and depressing. The push for moving to standard time might seem a bit frivolous these days but I believe that we should still pursue this and put pressure on our Governments to do the right thing.
I am glad to see that there is still a lot of support to stop changing the clocks twice a year. The vast majority of people support this. Unfortunately there is a lot of uninformed thinking about all year daylight saving time. There is a great deal of scientific evidence supporting staying on standard time. I hope you will send this factual information to your friends and family and ask them to sign the petition.
I have found getting up in the morning in the dark even when it’s a reasonable 7 am is very hard. If daylight saving time continued, by mid winter it would be dark at 9 am. Morning light is so important for our health and welfare. Early morning can be the most dangerous time on the roads. Having later daylight exacerbates this.
