No to Saudi Arms Deal
Dear Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Foreign Affairs Minister Stéphane Dion,
We're writing to you today to urge you to stop the $15-billion arms deal with Saudi Arabia.
Given the abysmal human rights record of the regime -- including the mass beheading of 47 people earlier this year -- as proud, peace-loving Canadians we find it unconscionable that our elected officials have used our tax dollars to promote and broker this arms sale to a thoroughly unethical state.
Imagine the lifeless body of a 3-year-old boy, not washed ashore, but laying in a dusty square in Riyadh. Killed by Canadian arms. Will there be public outrage for that little boy like that for Alan Kurdi?
The mechanisms are in place to stop the deal brokered by the Harper government. We urge you to do the right thing.
