Here we are again, almost exactly one year after last time. Donald Trumps administration has again attacked Syria with military force, it has again risked a war with Russia, and it has again, If early reports are to be belived, emboldened ISIS forces in Syria to launch further attacks against the Syrian army and people. It has done so with twice as many missiles as were used previously. Unlike last time Trump launch an attack, this attack was launched not on a military base, but on the city of Damascus itself, endangering a great many civilians. Of course, once again, they did all this without waiting for an OPCW investigation (which as it happens was set to take place mear hours after the attack was launched). Canada, to my great relief, did not participate in these strikes. According to Prime Minister Trudeau, Canada has no plans to participate in strikes on Syria. Canada made this decision along with several allies such as Germany, Italy and the Netherlands. While this is a positive development and highly reassuring, we should make our best efforts to keep it that way. If you have the capacity to support this petition by sharing it with interested friends or family, promoting it, or by any other means, I encourage you to do so, and will look to do the same. Our government needs to be reminded after this attack that the people of Canada still do not want a war, and that we will not have brave Canadian men and women sent to die in the name of US sphere of influence expansion. Thanks once again for all support thus far and for any support in the future.
