Petition updateCondemn US aggression against Syria, and do not participate
More strikes by the Trump Adminstration planned

Unfortunately, 1 year after this petition was initially written, the Trump administration is statedly preparing to attack Syria again, under the same circumstances as the last time (lacking sufficient evidence, under skepticism from abroad and within, and in a fashion reminiscent of Iraq). This time they are threatening even greater strikes, even more escalation, and again rumoring of an international coalition. We must not be a part of it. The Syrian Red Crescent (for those who do not know, the equivalent of the Red Cross in the Islamic world) reports finding no evidence of a chemical attack in the area alleged, and the UN has once again not been given time to complete an OPCW investigation. Every word written in that petition a year ago, will be completely valid once again if Trump launches such an attack on Syria as he is reportedly considering. As such, should such an event occur, I will be promoting this petition once again as it will still apply, as our government should still be urged to condemn such reckless action (which risks global conflict with Russia and it's allies) and as Canadians still do not want to be involved in a war in Syria which would result in the suffering and death of brave Canadian men and women sent to fight, and in the deaths of thousands more Syrians, at the expense of civilians and soldiers, and to the benefit of the currently retreating terror groups in the area, who will only gain from the sudden weakening of their main opposition in the country, the Syrian armed forces and their allies. Another update will follow should such an attack occur. These are uncertain times, and we can only hope that cooler heads prevail.
