Today, September 20th is the date of 2021 Canadian Federal Election. 

Politics and elections play a large part of everyone's lives and helps shape our futures. Every election is an opportunity to help better the country, have a voice to deliver better services and hold current politicians accountable. In Canada not everyone is afforded this right.

Today though over 21% of the Canadian population will not have a say in how the country is run and their futures are decided. This is because right now permanent residents of Canada do not have the right to vote, even though they make up nearly a quarter of the population. This is over 7,000,000 people who have chosen Canada as their home, they contribute billions to the Canadian economy each year, pay taxes, work and own businesses; like any other citizen. 

As a permanent resident I believe all permanent residents should be entitled to vote, its a basic right which we do not have even though we contribute so much to the Canadian economy.
