Nosotros, familiares, amigos, compañeros y ciudadanos preocupados, solicitamos respetuosamente que se imponga la pena máxima permitida por ley a todos los responsables del asesinato del Sargento Eliezer Ramos Vélez.

El Sargento Ramos Vélez dedicó su vida al servicio público y a la protección de su comunidad como agente del orden público en Puerto Rico. Su asesinato no solo arrebató la vida de un oficial comprometido con su deber, sino que destruyó emocionalmente a una familia y dejó una profunda herida en toda una comunidad.

Matar a un oficial de policía es un ataque directo contra quienes diariamente arriesgan sus vidas para proteger a otros. Este crimen no debe ser minimizado ni reducido mediante acuerdos que permitan a los responsables recuperar algún día su libertad.

Además del asesinato, los acusados presuntamente intentaron despojarlo de su chaleco, arma y equipo policial, demostrando un absoluto desprecio por la vida humana y por todo lo que representa un servidor público.

Como familia, vivimos diariamente el dolor de haber perdido a un padre, hijo, hermano y ser humano extraordinario. Eliezer era amado profundamente. Su ausencia dejó un vacío imposible de llenar.

Por respeto a su memoria, por justicia para nuestra familia y por la seguridad de todos los oficiales que continúan sirviendo, solicitamos que los responsables enfrenten cadena perpetua y que no se concedan acuerdos que disminuyan la gravedad de este crimen.

We, the family, friends, fellow officers, and concerned citizens, respectfully ask that the maximum sentence allowed by law be imposed on all individuals responsible for the murder of Sergeant Eliezer Ramos Vélez.

Sergeant Ramos Vélez dedicated his life to public service and to protecting his community as a law enforcement officer in Puerto Rico. His murder not only took the life of a dedicated officer, but also devastated an entire family and deeply impacted the community he served.

Killing a police officer is a direct attack on those who risk their lives every day to protect others. This crime should not be minimized or reduced through plea agreements that may eventually allow those responsible to regain their freedom.

In addition to the murder, the accused allegedly attempted to take his ballistic vest, weapon, and police equipment, demonstrating complete disregard for human life and for everything a public servant represents.

As a family, we live every day with the unbearable pain of losing a father, son, brother, and extraordinary human being. Eliezer was deeply loved, and his absence has left a void that can never be filled.

In honor of his memory, in pursuit of justice for our family, and for the protection of all officers who continue to serve, we ask that those responsible receive life imprisonment and that no agreements be made that lessen the severity of this crime.

We ask the community to support this petition and help ensure our voices are heard.
