The Issue

In Sambalpur, Odisha, our family has suffered an unimaginable loss.

Swati Agrawal, a beloved daughter, wife, and mother of three young children, tragically lost her life in a devastating road accident. Her absence has left a permanent void in our family and community.

What happened after the accident has been equally painful for all of us.

The person responsible for this tragedy was initially released on bail on the very same day. For more than 20 days, our family lived with heartbreak and uncertainty, waiting for concrete action and clarity.

But your support — your signatures, messages, and solidarity — created pressure that could not be ignored.

And with the continued efforts of the Superintendent of Police (SP), Sambalpur, the accused has now been taken back into custody. We acknowledge and appreciate the SP’s responsiveness and cooperation during this difficult time.

However, our fight does not end here.

We are demanding:

1. Faster justice: This case must proceed without unnecessary delays. Every day of waiting deepens the pain of a family already shattered.

2. A thorough and transparent investigation: We need a complete and clear understanding of the incident and the steps being taken forward.

3. Strict and appropriate punishment for the accused: The punishment should reflect the seriousness of the loss and serve as a strong deterrent for future negligence on our roads.

4. Continued accountability and follow-through: Now that the accused is in custody again, we hope the process will move swiftly and responsibly. The family and community deserve closure, truth, and justice.

Swati’s death is not just a personal tragedy; it reflects the importance of stronger road-safety awareness and stricter enforcement to prevent such incidents in the future.

Your signatures have already helped move this case forward.

Your voice continues to matter.

Please sign and share this petition.

Stand with us as we fight for justice for Swati — for her children, for our family, and for every person who deserves safety and accountability on our roads.
