Justice For Carl: petition against Carl's murderer's parole.

The Issue

In November 2015, Juane Jacobs and Brent Henry brutally beat my brother, Carl Schoombie to death.

Carl and his friends were in an Uber and were followed by his attackers into a cul-de-sac. They pulled Carl  out of the vehicle and severely assaulted him in what was a case of mistaken identity. He sustained a massive brain injury and died four days later.

The brutal murder of my brother has caused my family great anguish.

It took 3 gruelling months and a large cash reward to find Juane Jacobs. He allegedly had plans to flee the country and thus considered a flight risk.

In 2017, after a long trial, both Juane Jacobs and Brent Henry were sentenced to life imprisonment and in 2020 both their appeals for lesser sentences were denied by the Western Cape High Court.

Juane Jacobs although sentenced to life behind bars for the brutal murder of my brother, has applied for medical parole - only four years into his imprisonment.

The Jacobs family have taken to the media to bring attention to Juane’s request for medical parole, creating a dramatised plea including videos, in search of sympathy for Juane and to justify medical parole. As a family we are shocked and dismayed by this development especially knowing that Juane showed no remorse or sympathy during the murder case and trial.

We need your support! Please sign this petition to help our fight for Justice for Carl and against Juane Jacobs' application/s for medical parole.

  • We will be submitting this petition to support our submission to the parole board advocating that medical parole should not be granted.

We hope this petition will bring change and justice not only to Carl's case but all murder cases where medical parole is seen as an escape from Justice.
