Dear friends,
I wanted to provide a brief update regarding Mr Tan See Chee (the “bird uncle”)—the individual for whom I had earlier penned a petition that many of you supported.
I recently checked the judiciary website and was unable to locate any upcoming court listing under his name. I recall that it had previously been stated that he would be returning to court in January, and more specifically on 26 January, for his charges to be read, unless of cos, if my memory fails me. But newspaper article did say that he would be returning to court in January.
As of now, no such listing appears! Of cos, this may not mean anything, but the Optimistic me is half expecting that This Petition has made a difference!!!
In the interest of clarity and transparency, and given the public interest in the matter, I have written to the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) to enquire about the procedural status of the case and whether it is expected to proceed in open court. I am sharing the email below for your reference.

Subject: Clarification on Status of Proceedings – Tan See Chee
Dear Sir / Madam,
I hope this message finds you well.
I am writing to seek clarification on the status of proceedings involving Mr Tan See Chee.
I am the author of the petition submitted in relation to this matter, and I am making this enquiry in the context of public interest and transparency, given the attention the case has received.
I recall that it was previously stated that Mr Tan would be returning to court in January, and more specifically on 26 January, for his charges to be read. At present, I am unable to locate any corresponding listing on the judiciary website.
I fully understand that court dates may be tentative, rescheduled, or not reflected publicly until closer to the date. I would therefore be grateful if you could clarify, insofar as you are able, whether:
The matter is still expected to proceed in open court; and
Whether the previously indicated January date remains applicable, or has been deferred or otherwise reviewed.
This enquiry is made purely to understand the procedural status of the case. I appreciate that there may be limits to the information that can be disclosed.
Thank you for your time and assistance.
Yours sincerely,
Iris Koh
I will share any response from AGC once received.
Please continue to invite your friends and communities to sign this petition.
We are making strides!
In the meantime, I would also like to take this opportunity to invite you to join me for my 50th birthday celebration on 10 January, carrying us past midnight into 11 January—a gathering inspired by 1001 Nights, and what I’ve come to call “the night that carries us into freedom.”
It will be an evening of food, music, stories, and good company. I will also be sharing a brief Year in Review of 2025, and—if there are updates by then—I hope to share more on this and other matters in person.
Details and registration are in the link below. I truly hope some of you can join me. I also hope I will have fresh updates of this petition to update you on the night.
