Not surprisingly, another wombat has been bludgeoned and taken into town still alive, to be eaten.
But this little angel escaped! She escaped to local council officers who saved her. She was starving and dehydrated, they gave her food and water and called their lovely local wombat carer. When she saw the state of this baby girl and where she came from, she called us and I drove 10 hours straight to rescue her and bring her home.
We have since found out she has been shot in the stomach. The bullet still remains and considering her condition, the best prognosis for her is to leave the bullet alone.
We have been busy working behind the scenes with an enlisted lawyer to get the laws changed surrounding traditional hunting. There is nothing in place to stop the cruel treatment of animals under the Native Title Act and that is our goal. We are not ever going to give up until these precious animals are protected.
We need help to do this! This is unprecedented and requires a lot of time from our legal team which comes at a price.
We are asking for donations to support our legal team and help babies like Peanut ♡ Every dollar counts!
