Justice for Theresa Rinn: Demand Maximum Penalty for Joshua Snide

Justice for Theresa Rinn: Demand Maximum Penalty for Joshua Snide
The Issue
On a quiet afternoon, Theresa Rinn—beloved mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend to many—was senselessly taken from us. She was going about her daily routine when her life was violently cut short due to the reckless actions of Joshua Snide.
This was not a tragic accident—it was a preventable act fueled by irresponsibility. Snide was driving under the influence, speeding (over 100mph), and behaving erratically. He was knowingly behind the wheel without a valid driver's license. And if that weren’t enough, he fled the scene after the crash—leaving behind devastation and heartbreak.
What makes this even more infuriating is that this was not a one-time lapse in judgment. Many in the community are well aware of Snide’s history of dangerous behavior. His actions follow a well-known pattern, and it speaks for itself. This tragedy could have been prevented if prior warnings had been taken seriously.
We are calling on the Clinton County District Attorney’s Office and the New York State judicial system to pursue the maximum sentence allowed by law. Justice demands more than a slap on the wrist. A strong message must be sent—that reckless offenders will be held accountable, and that lives like Theresa’s are not disposable.
We also urge the court to include restitution in sentencing, to recognize the lifelong impact on Theresa’s family and the community she helped shape.
This is not about revenge—it’s about justice, accountability, and public safety. No family should ever have to go through what we’re enduring now.
Please sign and share this petition. Help us ensure that Theresa Rinn’s death is not ignored—and that her memory becomes the reason we demand change.
