26 Nov 2024

Today PC Lockett gave evidence. On completion of all evidence being heard, admissions were given from the IOPC and both officers legal representatives. Although the officer had the case under control. The officer and sergeant are both dependant on the fact that the reason force was used, is because they was in fear of their safety. PC Lockett has accepted that more questions should have been asked before he made a decision to apply handcuffs (and applying force to do so) to the young black male. Neither PS Lea nor PC Lockett showed any remorse for their actions in todays hearing, with both legal parties relying upon technicalities within the law to dismiss the case. PC Lockett repeatedly expressed he feels ‘offended’ that the IOPC are treating this as a racially aggravated case of misconduct. The panel have asked to use tomorrows time to deliberate and for all parties to return at 11am on 28/11/24. A further update will be given then.
