Thank you again for standing behind this petition. I want to share an update on what we did today to push for answers and accountability.

Over the last 24 hours, I contacted elected officials who represent our area at the federal and state level. I shared the concerns raised in this petition, the conflicting statements coming from different agencies, and the need for clear information about who is responsible for investigating the deaths of more than 50 sloths connected to the planned Sloth World attraction.

Here is who has received our message:

U.S. Senator Rick Scott
U.S. Senator Ashley Moody
U.S. Representative Maxwell Frost
Florida State Senator Kristen Arrington
Florida State Representative Bruce Antone
Governor Ron DeSantis
All of these offices have confirmed receipt of the message.

The Letter We Sent
Below is the exact message that was sent to each office. You are welcome to use or adapt it if you wish to follow up individually.

Subject: Request for clarity and legislative action regarding sloth deaths in Florida

I am writing as a Florida resident concerned about the ongoing situation involving the deaths of sloths connected to the planned Sloth World attraction. More than 50 animals have died, and recent reporting has shown conflicting statements from different offices about whether an investigation is underway.

These mixed messages from law enforcement and state agencies are troubling. One office has said an investigation is in progress, while another has said no investigation has begun and that agencies are still determining who should take the lead. This lack of clarity makes it difficult for the public to understand what steps are being taken to ensure accountability.

I respectfully ask for two things:

Clear and consistent information about which agency is responsible for investigating this matter and what stage that process is in.
Consideration of legislation or regulatory measures that would prevent a situation like this from happening again. The scale of the loss underscores the need for stronger protections and oversight.
Thank you for your time.

A Follow‑Up Question That Still Has No Answer
Even with everything we know, one critical question remains:

How many sloths are still unaccounted for, and who has them?

Early reports referenced additional sloths that were never confirmed dead or transferred. No agency has clarified:

How many are missing
Whether any are alive
Where they were taken
or who currently has custody of them?

This is a basic question of transparency and public trust, and it deserves a clear answer.

Our Commitment
We are still small, but we are mighty. We do not have the media behind us, and we are not backed by any political agenda. We are simply people who refuse to look away. We will continue independently — not for views, not for clicks, but for justice, and for the truth that has been denied to these animals and to the public.

Bandit, Habanero, and Dumpling will not be forgotten. Nor will any of the unnamed sloths who suffered and died.

Our Thanks to the Central Florida Zoo
Before closing, we want to acknowledge the one organization that has shown the clarity, effort, and honesty this situation has desperately needed: the Central Florida Zoo.

They did not create this crisis. They did not contribute to the suffering. They stepped in when no one else did.

Their veterinary team has worked tirelessly to save the surviving sloths — treating cold‑stun injuries, dehydration, malnutrition, viral illness, and the long‑term effects of neglect. They have been transparent, compassionate, and professional at every step.

In a situation filled with silence, confusion, and shifting stories, the Central Florida Zoo is the only party emerging with integrity. They are the ones doing the work. They are the ones telling the truth. They are the ones giving these animals a chance.

We are grateful for them — and we want everyone reading this to know it.
