We are appalled that Professor Ramadan is being denied his basic human rights in a case that has become highly politicized. On July 17, you will also be presented with the international Free Tariq Ramadan Change.org petition signed by more than one hundred and fifty-three thousand concerned international citizens, along with the worldwide appeal for due process for Tariq Ramadan signed by more than a hundred journalists, politicians, scholars and academics. We strongly urge you to look this matter immediately and provide assurances that Professor Ramadan be granted bail so he can receive the proper treatment for his health issues and so he can properly prepare for his defense. If this type of inhumane treatment continues, international citizens like myself are going to lose trust in the French legal system.
