Two members of the Cuyahoga County Council -- Yvonne Conwell, and Dale Miller -- have given an outstanding example of leadership; and have written to County Prosecutor McGinty asking that he either seek charges or, step aside and appoint a special prosecutor in the police murder of Tamir Rice. http://www.newsnet5.com/news/local-news/oh-cuyahoga/cuyahoga-county-council-tells-timothy-mcginty-to-make-a-move-in-t Since the matter is now being presented to the Grand Jury, time is short and, once again, we ask you to contact McGinty's office as well asking not only that he seek indictments in secrecy before the Grand Jury, but that he publicly state his intention to do this. Phone (216) 443-7800 or Fax 216-698-2270. Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Timothy McGinty has ignored the request of the family, and attorneys of Tamir Rice to recuse himself from this case. The request for recusal was made because McGinty hired two outside pro-police “experts” and publicly released their reports that described the shooting as “reasonable.” McGinty responds to letter on Tamir Rice case - NewsNet5 ... I want to redraw your attention to the reason we are here. The actions of the police officer in this video: http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2015/01/extended_tamir_rice_shooting_v.html This video was seen around the world of 12 year old Tamir Rice being shot down in less than 2 seconds of police arriving on the scene. There is nothing “reasonable” about the actions of police officers Timothy Loehmann and Frank Garmback seen in this video. Over 63,000 people have signed a petition demanding that prosecutor McGinty file charges against officers Timothy Loehmann and Frank Garmback responsible for the death of 12 year old Tamir Rice. https://www.change.org/p/cuyahoga-county-prosecutor-timothy-j-mcginty-file-charges-against-officers-timothy-loehm We are now twenty two days away from Tamir Rice’s one year anniversary, and the Grand Jury has now begun to hear testimonies, and review evidence into the shooting death of a 12 year old child playing in the park; shot dead by two Cleveland Police Officers. The call for justice to be served in this case is long overdue, but the actions of the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor leaves to question will Justice ever come for 12 year old Tamir Rice. The family has asked that you join them in their call for recusal of Prosecutor McGinty, and the appointing of a special independent prosecutor to handle Tamir’s case by signing this petition. https://www.change.org/p/justice-for-tamir-rice-appoint-a-special-prosecutor?recruiter=15169633&utm_source=share_ In solidarity, LaTonya Goldsby, Coordinator
