Emani changed her name and moved between states, which made her hard to locate. Investigators found her car and confirmed she was staying at a North Carolina address. A woman at that home admitted Emani lived there and accepted the court papers. Emani later responded to the lawsuit, proving she received the documents and knew about the case.

The legal team argued that Emani is trying to avoid responsibility and delay the process. The court has not made a decision yet, but the case is still active and moving forward.
