Justice For Seb - Sebastian Moore

Justice For Seb - Sebastian Moore
The Issue
Sebastian Moore was a beloved (indigenous) son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and uncle, whose life was unjustly and brutally taken. His family and supporters believe that the handling of his case has been unfair & unjust. We can no longer stay silent.
on November 26, 2023, Sebastian was brutally murdered while standing up for his cousin, who was being beaten by her partner (Jerel Brown). It was in Sebastian’s nature to care for everyone, especially those who were vulnerable. Seb was a charismatic, loving and humorous young man. He had just turned 17 and had his whole life ahead of him. He was peaceful and got along with anyone and everyone. His concern for his cousin would prove to be his demise. That night in November 2023, Sebastian had gone to see the guy that had been tormenting his little cousin, to tell him to leave her alone. This was not taken very well. Sebastian was bear maced and stabbed multiple times. First to the back of the head then came the body shots(though, the examination indicated that the first blow was the one that killed him). The perpetrator (Jerel) then stabbed Sebastian’s friend (4times) and chased him for two blocks.
We the Moore family, were given a verbal non disclosure agreement and warned to not retaliate. That if anything happened to Jerel (Sebastian’s murderer), we would be held accountable. Through out the investigation, we were assured that the investigation was going in a good direction and at the very least, Jerel Brown would be charged with manslaughter but that they wanted to charge him to the fullest extent.
April 29, 2025 the family received a call saying that Crown Counsel has reached a decision that there will be absolutely no charges in the case of Sebastian’s murder, nor for the attempted murder of Sebastian’s friend. This makes no sense as there is enough evidence for a conviction (video surveillance, multiple witnesses). Seb’s murderer (Jerel Brown)has a history of violence that he has never been held accountable for and our boy paid the ultimate price.
Crown Counsel’s choice is based off of text messages, prior to the incident. Meanwhile, the RCMP had been telling the family that the evidence gathered is enough to lay charges.
The family has been waiting in limbo(in silence), for justice to be served, only to be told that there won’t be any justice. We demand that the investigation be kept open and for Crown Counsel to rethink their hasty decision (to NOT move forward with the appropriate charges). We feel that because this was “native on native crime”, that Crown is choosing to sweep it under the rug, along with the other 60% of criminal charges that don’t get approved. Seb’s life matters. His murder deserves justice. Jerel Brown deserves to be held accountable for his violent actions.
By signing this petition, you stand with Seb’s family and those fighting for justice for Sebastian Moore. Let’s raise our voices and demand action now.
