I reviewed your email and want to respond regarding the contents of the correspondence. I am the Interim Police Chief at the Yakima Police Department. Our agency services the residents who reside in the City of Yakima. The Community Service Officers at our agency are full-time employees who provide excellent services within the city and humanely respond to calls for service.

This incident you are describing in your email did not involved members of the Yakima Police Department. The personnel involved in the incident are employed by another agency and I do not have supervisory authority over them.

Moving forward, our Community Service Officers will continue to provide animal services within the City of Yakima and I am confident in their abilities to handle calls for service professionally and humanely.
