February 12, 2025
Earlier this week, on February 10, we marked four years since the last credible sighting of Oakley Carlson. This heartbreaking milestone is a stark reminder that this sweet, joyful little girl remains missing—and that those responsible for her disappearance still refuse to cooperate with the investigation.
Oakley’s true Mama and Daddy, Jamie Jo and Erik Hiles, made their voices loud and clear with a powerful ad in The Olympian, which read:
"It's your turn to do the right thing, Bob. Protect the children of Washington. When Bob Ferguson was AG, he said only the Governor could act in Oakley Carlson's case—now is the chance to stand by his word. Her life mattered."
Governor Bob Ferguson served as Attorney General when Oakley was discovered missing. Since 2022, Oakley’s supporters have called and emailed him to demand a review of Washington DCYF’s handling of Oakley’s case. At the time, his office claimed he did not have the authority to act and directed all inquiries to then-Governor Jay Inslee.
But now, as the newly elected Governor, Ferguson has the power—and the responsibility—to take decisive action for Oakley and for the safety of all children in Washington state.
We need your voice! Share this petition and help us demand that Governor Ferguson call for an immediate independent agency review of WA DCYF’s failures in Oakley Carlson’s case. Oakley deserved protection, and we cannot allow the systemic issues that led to her disappearance to be ignored.
