Hi everyone,
I wanted to share an update with you all. We now have 109 signatures on this petition, and I want to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has signed, shared and supported this campaign. Your support means so much to me. ❤️
But we need to keep going. Please help me reach more people by sharing this petition with your friends, family and across social media.
The more people who stand together, the harder it becomes for these important issues to be overlooked.
I have now emailed the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) and the College of Policing to raise awareness and ask what steps can be taken to encourage better investigations, transparency, accountability and compassion for every family affected by a missing-person case or an unexplained death.
❤️ MY 6 POINTS FOR CHANGE — JUSTICE FOR LEWIS AND EVERY FAMILY ❤️
1. Thorough Investigations
Every missing-person case and unexplained death should receive a thorough, proportionate investigation, with appropriate enquiries carried out and relevant evidence properly considered.
2. Clear Communication With Families
Families should receive regular, meaningful updates and clear explanations of the process, delays and next steps, within legal limits.
3. Families Listened To and Taken Seriously
Information, evidence and concerns shared by relatives should be recorded, considered appropriately and responded to.
4. Timely Disclosure and Explanations
Families should receive relevant information as soon as lawfully possible, with clear explanations when information cannot yet be shared.
5. Independent Reviews and Accountability
There should be a clear, accessible route for families to raise credible concerns about the handling of a case, with independent scrutiny where appropriate.
6. Better Support and National Standards
Families should have access to appropriate emotional and practical support, clear guidance about their rights and processes, and consistent standards across the country.
These six points are at the heart of this campaign. I want to help bring about meaningful improvements so that families feel listened to, are kept informed and have clear routes to seek answers when they are facing the most devastating time of their lives.
This campaign is for my son, Lewis Penfold Roche, and for every family who deserves to be treated with dignity, compassion and respect.
