Justice for #KadaScott — Shaka Johnson is no longer leading RESOLVED
The Issue
We, the family and supporters of Kada Scott, are demanding justice, accountability, and real protection for Black women.
Kada Scott was a vibrant, loving young woman whose life was senselessly taken — leaving behind a devastated family and community. The man accused in connection with her death, Keon King, has a known history of violence, particularly against Black women. His actions have shattered lives and endangered others — and yet, once again, the legal system threatens to fail us.
To make matters worse, Philadelphia attorney Shaka Johnson has chosen to represent Keon King in this deeply painful and high-profile case. While every person has the right to legal representation, there comes a point where morality must outweigh professional ambition.
As a respected Black attorney, Shaka Johnson’s involvement in this case sends a chilling message to the Black community: that even those who claim to fight for justice are willing to defend known abusers — even those responsible for harming and killing Black women.
We are calling for the following:
- Attorney Shaka Johnson to immediately step down as legal counsel for Keon King out of respect for the Scott family and the broader community.
- Full and unwavering prosecution of Keon King, with no plea deals or reduced charges — he must be held accountable for the harm and loss he’s caused.
- A broader commitment to protecting Black women from domestic violence, abuse, and systemic neglect.
- Black women are not disposable. We will not be silenced, and we will not allow the justice system to protect abusers while ignoring the pain of grieving families.
We urge you to sign and share this petition to stand in solidarity with Kada’s family and to demand that our legal system stop enabling those who harm Black women.
This is bigger than one case — this is about the value of Black women’s lives, and our right to be protected, believed, and defended.
✊🏾 Justice for Kada. Justice for all of us.
