This petition is for Burt Baker, III to be charged by Columbia County with more serious charges such as attempted manslaughter in the case of allowing his dogs to be loose, thereby attacking an innocent child, Justin Gilstrap.  The dear child has suffered intense bodily injury as a result of the dogs attacking him on the evening of Friday, January 6, 2023.  The child was simply riding his bike in his neighborhood when he was viciously attacked and wrestled into the ditch by these dogs.  Justin has already underwent several surgeries in attempts to regain his scalp which was torn to pieces and to mend his ear which was severed.  His little body had nothing but cuts, bruises, gashes, puncture wounds, bite marks, and his scalp partially gone.   Due to multiple calls of complaints by neighbors, Burt Baker, III had been warned several times to have his dogs in proper restraints and he knew by owning such potentially dangerous dogs, it was in the best interest of the community, as well as his own dogs, to comply with these orders.  He was aware that he was in violation of the law.  By signing this petition, you are agree with the fact that this man should be charged with more serious punishment as being the primary cause of this child’s suffering and injuries.  Due to the severity of this case being nearly a life and death situation, Burt Baker, III should have to pay in a way he doesn’t forget.
